FC Miami City’s very own Kerly Theus is going to Haiti’s first ever Women’s World Cup.
The Haitian goalkeeper took part in FC Miami City’s inaugural season, where the brand new USL W League side secured a playoff spot, and won their conference by going undefeated in the regular season.
Our USL W League side helped Theus gain exposure and assisted her in returning to her national team for two sets of vital Women’s World Cup Qualifiers against Senegal and Chile.
Theus impressively kept a clean sheet in Haiti’s 4-0 victory over Senegal. They then took on Chile in what is one of the most important matches in Haitian soccer history.
Theus started in goal for each of the monumentally crucial fixtures and showed her quality in both matches, managing a shutout against Senegal and making world-class saves against Chile. One of Theus’ saves was a palmed stop to a venomous strike onto the crossbar, to keep her side ahead.
The USL W shot stopper was key in helping her team secure both victories. She is continually proving the quality within the W league and women’s soccer is as high as it has ever been. According to the Guardian, women’s soccer has a projected growth of roughly 305 percent. It’s fitting that the number is the same as Miami’s famous area code, as FC Miami City is helping spearhead said growth with one of the most talented women’s teams in the nation.
FC Miami City and Strive Football Group are delighted with the quality Theus has been displaying and wish her and her national side all the best in their next, historical fixtures this summer for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
